The Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc. (GSCL) organized pre-Mashramani tournament which was scheduled to be played on January 25 and 26 but will now be played on February 14 now has a new closing date.
According to a press release from the organizers the new closing date for the tournament which will see the winning team pocketing G$1M, a trophy and 15 medals in the Open category is January 31 while the
runners-up will receive $200 000, a trophy and 15 medals.
In the Over-40 category the winners will receive G$600 000, a trophy and medals while the runners –up will receive $200 000 a trophy and medals.
A three-piece living room suite or cash equivalent will be awarded to the Man of the match in both categories while the Man-of-the-Match in the final will receive $10 000 and a trophy.
The entrance fee for the Open category is $140 000 and $120 000 in the Over 40 category.
The drawing of the competition will take place at a date and venue to be announced.
Teams are expected from Suriname, Canada, Florida and New York, United States of America to battle against the local teams such as Wolf Warriors, Berbice Titans, Regal XI, Memorex, Speedboat, Trophy Stall,
Regal XI, Savage Masters and Industry Super Kings.
Matches will be held at the Everest Cricket Club, Police Sports Club and the Ministry of Education grounds with the semifinals and final of the Open category to be played at the Everest Cricket Club under lights with live radio commentary, the release stated.
