The Public Accounts Committee Sub-Committee on the Public Procurement Commission (PPC) has received around 20 nominations for the PPC, including that of Mayor Hamilton Green.
Yesterday, January 20, was the deadline for the public to make their nominations to the committee as was approved by the sub-committee late year. PAC Chairman Carl Greenidge told Stabroek News yesterday afternoon that the deadline was yesterday at 14:00 hrs, and that he had not yet familiarized himself with the individuals nominated. He did say though, that he had been informed that about 20 persons have been nominated by the public.
Stabroek News has been informed by sources that Green, Mayor of the Georgetown Municipality, is among those nominated. Incidentally, the mayor was said to have nominated himself. Calls to the mayor for clarification on the nomination went unanswered.
Greenidge says that the committee will meet next week to deliberate on the list.
