The Food and Drug Department is advising the public that a fake 10kg bucket of Golden Cream Margarine is being sold on the market in regions Five and Six.
The counterfeit product does not have the word margarine on the label, the colour of the label is a deeper blue and yellow and the phrase “free of transfat” is omitted, the Department said in a press release. The International Standards Organisations (ISO) 9001-2008 mark in green that is usually listed under the List of Ingredients is also omitted from the imitation product.
The Department is working closely with Sterling Products Limited, the local manufacturer, and the National Food Safety and Control Committee in the said regions to seize the counterfeit product and to determine its source for further action to be taken.
