A police constable was shot dead last night in Guyhoc Park after confronting another man during a visit to his girlfriend.
Dexter Wright, also called Quincy Wright, 28, of Berbice, who was attached to the Mounted Branch of the Guyana Police Force, was shot once to the left side of his chest by the man at around 11:00pm last night.
The shooting occurred in the yard of the Lot 84 Guyhoc Park residence of his girlfriend, who he was visiting at the time. He was subsequently pronounced dead after arriving at the Georgetown Public Hospital shortly after.
