A pensioner was found hanging under a shed at the back of his Cotton Field, Essequibo home early yesterday morning.
Sukhdeo Persaud, 76, self-employed, of Lot 95 Cotton Field Back Street was found by his 39-year-old son, Neel Khant Persaud hanging from a short piece of sling under a shed aback their home.
According to the man’s wife, Persaud had always threatened to take his life.
“He use to always say that he disgust live and why God can’t take his life and that he gon kill he self,” the wife said. She told this newspaper
that on Monday night, her husband watched television with the family then went downstairs to sleep. Yesterday morning when his son went to feed the chickens, he discovered his father’s lifeless body hanging from a sling. He then alerted his sister and mother and the police were called.
“Only about two days ago I take away the poison from here because he was talking about killing heself. He didn’t had no health problems other than a small lump on his back and last week he went to the hospital and had a minor surgery to cut it off and it start getting better,” she said.
The woman also said that her husband had previously made attempts to take his life and lately he had started having strange dreams about his late father.
Persaud’s body was taken to the Charity Hospital Mortuary and was later transferred to the Suddie mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
He leaves to mourn his wife, son and daughter.
