The 16-year-old boy who accused three police officers of sodomizing him at a police outpost at Stabroek Market on Sunday, this midday scaled the roof of Stabroek News on Robb Street out of frustration and it was only an hour later he was brought down by a civilian and fire officers.
The boy clambered onto the roof amid an uncle relating aspects of his background while at the newspaper. The relative had earlier taken him to at least one other media house.
Sitting on the edge of the building the teen screamed at the large number of people who had gathered saying that he was sexually assaulted by the ranks. Firefighters tried unsuccessfully for some time to get him down to safety. Child welfare officers were also on the scene. The boy’s protest on the roof attracted a large crowd and stalled traffic.

After an hour of trying to coaxing him down, he was grabbed by a public-spirited citizen who climbed onto the roof and handed him over to the firefighters and police. The boy is presently at the Georgetown Public Hospital undergoing an evaluation.
