The boy fatally shot on Wednesday during a robbery was positively identified by relatives yesterday as 15-year-old Leon McCurdy.
McCurdy and two accomplices invaded a business place in Dazzell Housing Scheme, Paradise, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Wednesday. While his two accomplices were able to escape with money and jewellery, McCurdy was left behind and was eventually shot by businessman Eon Evans, a licensed firearm holder.
Up to press time on Wednesday, police had not been able to verify the man’s identity, but relatives were told that it might have been McCurdy who was killed. They turned up at Lyken’s Funeral Home some hours after the shooting but were unable to view his body since they were not accompanied by a police officer.
Relatives returned yesterday and were able to positively identify his body.
