The Peoples Progressive Party (PPP) has renewed its commitment to bringing the perpetrators of the Lusignan massacre to justice as the nation marks the sixth anniversary of the killings.
“We vividly recall the fear, outrage, and anger which this atrocity generated on that fateful morning of 26th January 2008 and the days immediately following,” the party said in a press release issued on Tuesday.
“We hope that our nation and our people are never visited by such cruel and inhumane acts of violence.”
According to the party, some of those who committed these gruesome crimes have not been brought to justice. “It is equally imperative that we recognize that the intellectual authors of this murderous design are also still enjoying their liberty,” the party said.
It extended condolences to the relatives of the victims—Clarence Thomas, Vanessa Thomas, Ron Thomas, Mohandan Goordat, Seegopaul Harilall, Seegobin Harilall, Dhanwajie Ramsingh, Seecharran Rooplall, Raywattie Ramsingh, Shazam Mohammed and Shaleem Baksh—and renewed its commitment, energy and will to ensure the perpetrators and those who aided and abetted them are brought to justice in order to ensure that such atrocities are never repeated.
