Simpli Royal launches Cotillion programme

The Simpli Royal Foundation for Empowerment has launched a programme aimed at rounding out teenagers and young adults.

Billed as the ‘Cotillion for Teens and Young Adults’, the programme is ideal for young people who might be considering any sort career that places them in the public eye.

According to a press release, Simpli Royal is the only local organisation offering a cotillion programme. And it promises to have a positive impact.

The programme, the release said, will build self-confidence and

character, and help set boundaries of behaviour.

It also guides youth to establish self awareness, respect of self and others, good citizenship, benevolence, graciousness, chivalry, personal presentation, electronic etiquette and dance.

The release said the programme will help prepare youth for a lifetime of success and will teach them valuable interpersonal relationship skills as well as providing the confidence it takes to interact effectively with others, among other things.

The programme is intended to be an after school three-month, twice weekly workshop.

Meanwhile, Simpli Royal noted that its first cotillion event was part of the 2000 Miss Guyana Talented Teen production. The contestants would have gone through workshops on dining etiquette, ballroom dancing, social behavior and habits of benevolence. Since then, the release said, the programme has been offered to every group of talented teens entering the pageant. In 2013 for the first time, Simpli Royal worked with young men as contestants in the first ever Mr Guyana Talented Teen.
