The Ministry of Housing will soon begin constructing 1,000 homes at Perseverance, East Bank Demerara and is inviting interested workers and suppliers to apply to work and supply materials.
In an ad in yesterday’s Sunday Chronicle, the ministry said that the first phase of the project is slated for commencement during the first quarter of this year. Last June, President Donald Ramotar planted a flag on a plot of land in the community to mark the start of a new housing scheme directly behind the Guyana National Stadium which will boast 1,000 homes worth $4.7 million each, the Government Information Agency (GINA) had reported.
GINA had said that the turn-key scheme targets the low and moderate income levels, particularly single-parent headed households. The New Building Society is a key partner in the turn-key homes project which began with a pilot of 20 homes, GINA reported.
