A woman and her two-year-old daughter were yesterday rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital after they fell into an open manhole outside the KFC in the Stabroek Market area.
Stabroek News understands that the woman, Alisha Thomas, 22, and her daughter, Hayley Thomas were walking with Thomas’s mother when they fell into the hole. It is unclear what injuries they received.
Her mother told this newspaper that they were walking in the area when her daughter and granddaughter fell into the open manhole, which had faeces all around it. “It was open… She ended up falling into it and it cover she till up to she shoulder. She push the baby up and I pulled them out and same time several vendors come and bring water to wash them off,” she said.
The woman added that after the two were pulled from the manhole, they went inside the KFC for her daughter to be washed off but they were turned away. Up to press time the two were still being treated at the hospital.
