The trial of Junior Henry and Baldeo Seegobin, who are accused of the murder of US-based businessman Ricardo Henriques, started yesterday with a voir dire.
Henry, of Lot 58 West Ruimveldt Estate, and Seegobin, of 97 West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, are accused of the fatal shooting of Henriques, 31, of D’Urban Street, Werk-en-rust, who was shot outside the Juice Power Snackette on Middle Street on November 28, 2008.
A third man, Philbert McPherson, was also charged with the murder but was set free by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry in April, 2013, following a no-case submission by his lawyer Basil Williams at the preliminary inquiry into the charge.
Based on reports, Henriques was shot at point blank range by a man who ran up to him with a gun, pointed it to his head and shot him before snatching a bag of cash he had in his possession.
The trial will continue today.
