The Ministry of Agriculture wishes to advise the public that a high intensity weather pattern, which is presently over the Atlantic continues to develop and as such, Guyana will experience rainfall of 45 to 80mm over a 24hr period.
This weather pattern which is expected to commence this evening, will be at its maximum capacity on Thursday. Most affected are those residing in Regions 3 to 5 and Northern Region Six. According to the latest report from the Hydromet Department, there is a 70 percent chance that the weather pattern will remain as predicted. As such, the Ministry of Agriculture is advising those in low-lying, and riverain areas to take all necessary precautions against possible flooding.
While the relevant authorities continue to be on alert, the Ministry of Agriculture is asking persons to report any flooding by calling their hotline # on 227-5079/223-7291. This high intensity rainfall is expected to decrease tomorrow evening.
