The Technical Committee of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has recommended Alpha United‘s Wayne `Wiggy’ Dover to be the next national team coach.
According to Technical Committee member Brian Joseph, speaking via telephone, “There were some deliberations by the Technical Committee in deciding who they will recommend to coach the senior team. “There was voting among the members who were present at the meeting and it was close to unanimous that Wayne Dover came out as the candidate for the head coaching job,” said Joseph adding that the recommendation has been put to GFF president Christopher Matthias.
Dover, Denzil Thompson and Joseph himself, were among those shortlisted for the post.
According to the Milerock FC coach:“One of the main criteria was that the head coaching position needed a person to have a FA-B License and that narrowed it down to Dover and Thompson.
“Basically it was down to these two guys who in Guyana would have been considered senior coaches in terms of how many national teams they would have been involved with. My recommendation for the post was based on my potential as a coach going forward.
“Since the recommendation has been made to the federation by the Technical Committee, no further movement has been made. It’s up to the president to now decide,” added Joseph.
