Thirty-seven-year-old Lavena Williams-Todd of Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara was killed in an accident last night as she was on her way home from work.
Relatives told Stabroek News that the woman worked at the City Holiday Inn and was waiting on the side of the road in Liliendaal to get transportation to go home. While she was waiting, the driver of a car proceeding east along the Rupert Craig Highway lost control and his vehicle slammed into the woman before plunging into a nearby drain.
Relatives say that the woman’s feet were shattered by the impact.
Up to press time last evening the driver of the vehicle was in police custody assisting with investigations while the woman’s body was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary.
The woman leaves to mourn her husband, brother, sister, and other relatives.
