Teams aiming to compete in the 10th Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) Busta Champion-of-Champions Cricket tournament are being asked to get ready for the competition which bowls off on February 16 weather permitting.
This appeal comes from Hilbert Foster, secretary of the RHTYSC who also expressed hope that the management of the Area ‘H’, Albion, Port Mourant and Cumberland grounds will get their venues in proper order.
The eight teams set to compete in the tournament are: Upper Corentyne, Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets, Albion, West Berbice, Young Warriors Universal DVD, Blairmont Community Centre, Port Mourant Karibee Rice and Universal Solution Bermine.
The semi-finals will be played on February 22 while the date and the venue for the final will be announced later, a press release from the organisers stated. The winning team is set to receive $100,000 and a trophy with the runners-up receiving $50,000. The final is expected to be broadcast live on NCN Radio.
According to the organisers, only players that have been registered with the clubs for the 2013 cricket season will be allowed to play and only one non-based Berbician per team will be allowed.
Clubs are also reminded that no form of indiscipline will be tolerated and any club or player that shows total dissent at umpiring decisions would be banned from further tournaments.
Umpires for the tournament will be selected by the Berbice Umpires Association (BUA).
Teams are also asked to be present at the venue half-an-hour before the schedule 9:30am start.
In the opening round on February 16, RHT Gizmos and Gadgets will play Upper Corentyne at the Area ‘H’ Ground; Albion Community Centre will oppose West Berbice at Albion;
Young Warriors Universal DVD will play Blairmont Community Centre at Cumberland and Port Mourant Karibee Rice will oppose Universal Solution Bermine at Port Mourant.
