A man was yesterday charged with stabbing another man with a glass bottle over $100.
It was alleged at the Georgetown Magistrates Courts that on January 21, within the vicinity of Demico House at Water Street, Georgetown, Kemp Beckles, 31, a contractor, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Seekumar Outar.
Kemp, of Georgetown, was not required to plead to the charge.
According to Prosecutor Michael Grant, Beckles had asked Outar for $100 but was refused. As a result, Beckles broke a bottle and stabbed Outar several times, including once to the left armpit.
Grant said that Beckles also lashed Outar to the head.
A report was subsequently made at the Brickdam Police Station, which saw the charge being brought against Beckles.
Grant also told the court that Beckles was charged with robbery and sentenced in the past, however, he did not object to bail for the man.
As a result, Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, who presided over the arraignment, set bail at $125,000 and adjourned the case to March 6, when it will be called for reports and fixture.
