The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) is observing its 125th anniversary this year with a roster of activities, including a lecture series in collaboration with the University of Guyana.
According to a press release from the GCCI, the milestone will be celebrated under the theme ‘Extension,’ in keeping with its growth and expansion over the years. In addition to the “Distinguished Lecture Series”, other planned Chamber activities for the anniversary include launching a new secretariat building, a commemorative booklet, a day of service, and identifying 125 businesspersons who have contributed to national development.
“As we reflect on our past with much affection and nostalgia, the GCCI cannot help but be excited and optimistic about its future,” it said in the press release.
It noted that while it is the oldest and only statutory private sector representative organisation in the country, it is still one of the most dynamic, respected and influential today.
“The Chamber remains a non-partisan organisation that is committed to Guyana’s social and economic development,” the release said.
