WELLINGTON, (Reuters) – India pace bowler Ishant Sharma took career best figures of six for 51 as New Zealand were bowled out for 192 shortly after tea on the first day of the second test in Wellington last night.
Ishant was the pick of India’s bowlers, who were given first use of the green Basin Reserve wicket after captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won his seventh successive toss and wasted little time in asking the hosts to bat.
Mohammed Shami finished with four for 70 for the visitors, who must win the match to stop New Zealand from clinching their first test series against them since 2002.
Kane Williamson top-scored with 47 after being dismissed three times and recalled twice due to no-balls in the innings. Jimmy Neesham (33) and Tim Southee (32) provided cameos towards the end.
India won the toss and chose to bowl
