Power has been restored in Port Kaituma and consumers began receiving 24-hour electricity yesterday, this newspaper was reliability informed.
Gladwyn Fordyce, Operator at the Port Kaituma Power and Light, said that since the fuel injectors promised to the company were not delivered so far, they repaired the damaged ones. He also said the smaller generator, which was out of order since last year August, has also been repaired and will be used to supply electricity to the community from 6 am to 6 pm daily.
Resident, Richard Allen said residents are happy to have normal power supply again. Tels Engineering Service, along with officials from the Office of the Prime Minister, aided in the restoration of electricity. Port Kaituma residents had faced power supply problems since last August after a generator was damaged and the company was forced to operate on one generator. The area faced a series of blackouts over the past two weeks until three days ago when power was partially restored.
Prior to yesterday, residents of Port Kaituma had power outages approximately every hour. And after receiving delivering electricity from 8 pm on Sunday to 9 am on Monday, the power company was forced to cut power supply after it ran out of fuel.
