Top seeds Narayan Ramdhani Nicholas Ali on Friday evening reached the men’s doubles final of the annual GUMDAC sponsored badminton tournament played at the Queen’s College badminton court.
The pair defeated Raymond Khalil and Jason-Ray Khalil 21-6. 21-9 while
Christopher Persaud and Noel Shewjattan defeated Gokarn Ramdhani and Darrell Carpenay 21-16, 21-18 in the other semi-final.
In quarter-final action, Narayan Ramdhani and Nicholas Ali defeated Ronald Chang Yuen and William Holder 21-10, 21-10; Raymond Khalil and Jason-Ray Khalil defeated Jonathan Mangra and Avinash Odit 21-17, 21-19;Christopher Persaud and Noel Shewjattan defeated Joshua Singh and Hemraj Beharry 21-4, 21-8 and Gokarn Ramdhani and Darrell Carpenay defeated Marcellos Bhagwandin and Amil Alli 21-11, 21-8.
In the ladies doubles semi-final, Althea McDavid and Abosaide Cadogan booked their spot in the final after defeating Angelica DaSilva and Krystal Peters 21-10, 21-4.
The GUMDAC annual Open doubles tournament commenced Friday and ended yesterday with the staging of the finals.
The National Sports Commission badminton tournament will get underway next Friday.
