United States Ambassador Brent Hardt yesterday mounted a stout defence of a controversial USAID-funded democracy project here and said it will not be put on hold despite the Guyana Government’s opposition to it.
Speaking at a Rotary Club of Georgetown Central event at the Georgetown Club, he said “We seek a partnership with Guyana rooted in our shared values of democracy, liberty, justice, and opportunity.”
Stabroek News has learnt that the Leadership and Democracy Pro-gramme’s (LEAD) elements are currently being implemented as planned.
