The football players of Queen’s College taught their counterparts of St Winifred’s the finer points of the sport with a 7-2 schooling in the highlight of day two of the Milo-U20 tournament on Sunday.
In the second of the four games at the Ministry of Education ground, the students of Guyana’s premier secondary school proved they can also excel out of the classroom.
Affab Crandon recorded a hatrick (37th, 46th and 57th) while Stephen King (second and 40th) and Ashmar Angel (17th and 26th) netted a brace each to pad the scoreline.
Strikes by Steffon Reynolds (28th) and Andrew Holder (44th) were in vain for St. Winifred’s
North Ruimvledt, defending champions, St. George’s and Lodge Secondary were also in the winner’s row.
Lodge Secondary gained a walk over victory against Central High, St George’s defeated New Campbellville Secondary 2-nil (Adolph George 5th, Neil Cameron 65th) and North Ruimveldt humiliated North Georgetown Secondary 7-nil.
Jeremy Garrett (20th and 47th), Matthew Harrison (24th), Jamal Europe (43rd and 55th) and Carl Griffith (60th) were the goal scorers for North Ruimveldt.
The round robin tournament which involves 24 city based schools continues on Saturday at the same venue.
