A pork knocker is now on $100,000 bail after denying that he wounded a woman at Salbora Backdam, at Mahdia.
At his arraignment in the city yesterday, a court heard that Dwayne Redmond on November 10 maliciously and unlawfully wounded Paulette Harris.
Prosecutor Michael Grant said Redmond and Harris had a misunderstanding, during which he dealt Harris two chops about her body. Grant said the woman had to be hospitalised, while the Redmond was subsequently incarcerated and charged.
With no objection by the prosecution, Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, granted Redmond bail and transferred the case to the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court, where it will be called on April 14 for the submission of statements.
