The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) is urging vendors and other persons desirous of having temporary electric supply along the Mash route to contact its Main Street office to prepay for this service.
Prepaying for this service will allow the company to provide legal connections to vendors and others, during the period of festivities, the company said in a press statement. “All arrangements are in place to meet the demands of customers including technical support during the large float parade along the routes of Georgetown.”
Persons must have in their possession a valid form of identification and Certificate of Inspection issued by the Government Electrical Inspectorate. The cost of the service will be determined by the electrical appliances (freezer, sound system, microwave oven, etc) indicated by the vendor for the intended use.
Vendors are urged to apply for their service before Friday, during normal business hours. For information persons can contact GPL’s Commercial Office on telephone number 226-2606 from 8am to 4pm from Monday to Thursday and from 8am to 3.30pm on Friday.
Persons found using unauthorised electricity supply during the festivities will be prosecuted.
