Yesenia Andrews’ all-round performance led St. Agnes Primary into the Georgetown district final after defeating St. Ambrose by 15 runs in the Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Festival yesterday.
In the first Georgetown Zone final played at the Demerara Cricket Club ground, St. Ambrose took first strike and were restricted to 106-6 from their 10 overs.
Opener Remalah Griffith and lower order batsman John Gill were joint top scorers with 10 runs each while extras contributed 18.
Andrews bowled with great control to finish with figures of 2-5.
In reply St. Agnes made 121-5, with Andrews (16) being the principal scorer. There was support from captain Oswald Clarke who made 12 and Alliah Hamilton who made 11. Bowling for St. Ambrose Primary, Kenroy Haley was the chief wicket taker finishing his one over spell with 3-7.
The tournament continues today with matches to be played at the Enmore, DCC, Better Hope and Uitvlugt grounds from 1pm.
