Leading female pistol shooter Vidushi Persaud won the small-bore competition when the Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) staged its first competition for the year last weekend at Eve Leary.
According to a press release,Persaud prevailed in a closely fought matchup over eventual second place finisher Azaad Hassan.
Persaud recorded 187 points with five V bulls in the .22 Precision Pistol shoot held at the five and ten metres ranges while Hassan also recorded 187 points but with four V-bulls.
Seasoned campaigner Ryan McKinnon was third with 184 points and six V-bulls.
Small-bore captain Dale Hing said it was the perfect start to the 2014 season as several junior shooters were featured in the competition.
“We were very pleased to see the junior shooters making full use of the competition as we prepare for a very action season,” Hing said.
Meanwhile, the first major tournament the Queensway Cup will be held March 9 at the Timehri ranges and will feature teams of three shooters from 9am and there will also be an Action Pistol competition on March 29 at the TSU ranges.
