China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC) yesterday handed over a cheque for $220,000 to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport to support this year’s Mash Children’s Art and Essay Competitions.
A release from CHEC said that the support provided by CHEC will be used for cash prizes for the winner of one category of the National Essay Writing Competition and for the first, second and third place winners of the 16-17 age group category of the Child Art competition.
Culture Minister Dr. Frank Anthony, after receiving the cheque, thanked CHEC for coming on board and encouraged the company to play an even bigger role in Mash 2015.
Dr. Anthony said “… we are working hard to preserve our culture and to ensure that our children understand their cultural heritage so that they too can pass it on, and CHEC support certainly helps with this.”
All prizes for the Mashramani competitions will be awarded at a Prize Giving ceremony to be held in March.
