Police are investigating a shooting incident involving a 16 year old on the Corentyne, but have already ruled out robbery as a possible motive.
Omesh Balram was at his home in No 69 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, when his father went downstairs to turn on the generator.
Balram’s father told police that he went downstairs of the No 69 village, Berbice home to turn on the generator when he heard what sounded like a gunshot.
The man said he rushed upstairs to see his son bleeding from the abdomen. The young man was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital. The young man told officers that he thought he saw a man in the hallway but could not be sure because it was so dark.
Balram’s father is a cambio dealer in the area, however the family said they have never before received any threats.
