Former president Bharrat Jagdeo is still overseas responding well to treatment for dengue.
According to sources, the former president is resting at his home in Boca Raton, Florida.
Sources confirmed that Jagdeo travelled to the United States after being advised by local medical experts that his strain of dengue may be better treated overseas. Stabroek News was made to understand that Jagdeo was previously in India on business prior to flying back to Guyana and then travelling to the US for medical attention.
The former president’s decision to seek medical attention in the US has critics taking note that Guyana’s medical capabilities may be deficient.
This publication was told that he travelled on a chartered flight. Jagdeo’s presidential benefits allow for full medical treatment within Guyana or overseas if he so chooses.
On Friday, sources confirmed that Jagdeo flew to the US as a precautionary measure for the treatment of a virulent strain of dengue.
