Zameel Abrahim, who was shot at a Port Mourant backdam rice field, on January 30, has been admitted a patient at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, after he was discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital’s High Dependency Unit (HDU) on Saturday.
In a telephone interview yesterday, Shameila Abrahim told Stabroek News, that she was very surprised when she heard of her son’s release from the HDU. “He condition ain’t improve,” Shameila said. She said Zameel, 25, of Tain Corentyne, is now in an open ward at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
She said what she did not understand was the logic of moving him, if he is to return to the hospital for a plastic surgery on his back. She explained to this publication that she has to go the GPH today, to be informed of a date for the surgery, and return on that date with Zameel to the city hospital.
The incident that occurred on January 30, at a rice field located at Port Mourant, claimed the lives of Seafield Layne, 48, of Number One Road Corentyne and Krishnaraj Jagdeo, 47, of Free Yard, Port Mourant. David Haripaul was also injured during the shooting.
