Family members of Vibert Samuels who was gunned down last Thursday morning in Albouystown say that they still don’t know why he was killed.
A post-mortem examination (PME) is expected to be conducted on his body today and family members hope to bury him tomorrow.
Samuels’ relatives said they have not heard from the police since last Thursday. A definite motive for his shooting was not determined but robbery was being looked at as a possible motive by the police this paper was told earlier. However, family members said he was a gardener and painter and did not have much money.
His relatives had also said that they found him lying on the road in front of his home with his pants’ pockets turned inside out. It was routine for Samuels, 52, of Coconut Walk and Calendar Street, Albouystown, to take an early morning walk and purchase oranges at the head of his street and last Thursday morning, he was doing just that when he met his demise.
Persons living in the area and family members were reported as saying they heard an argument and then a gunshot and later discovered Samuels’ body.
