A city man is now a patient in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital, after he was shot in the back after an attempted robbery.
Brian Greenidge, 21, had left his 67 Croal Street home around 9pm to head to the Bourda Market to buy some mosquito coil, his wife, who asked not to be named, said. However, he was intercepted by three men on Regent Street. They asked him what he had on him. After being informed by Greenidge that he only had $500 and a “cheap phone,” the men told him to run away. However, as he attempted to do so, Greenidge was shot once to the back, his wife said.
According to the woman, no one came to her husband’s assistance until, by chance, a cousin of her husband passed the scene of the crime and recognised his relative. Greenidge was rushed to the hospital by the family member. The woman related that when hours went by and her husband had still not returned home she made several attempts to get on to him, all of which failed. It was only until yesterday around 3pm was she called by his rescuer and told of the incident.
Though she was unsure of the extent of the surgery performed on Greenidge, she stated that he was conscious and seemed to be doing well. Up to yesterday afternoon, she was still to be updated by the nurses and doctors on her husband’s condition.
