Dear Editor,
It is amazing to see the extent to which some people would go to besmirch the character and integrity of good and honourable men and women in our society in order to score cheap political points.
People who condescend to such low levels of character assassination are reminded of a popular saying to the effect that those living in glass houses should refrain from throwing stones. In more biblical terms, we should all try to remove the beam from our own eyes before trying to do so from others.
While there is nothing wrong in being critical, especially when such criticisms are of a constructive nature, there is everything wrong is being mean and vindictive and in seeking to bring reputable people down in life simply because our views may not be congruent with those we seek to discredit.
Yours faithfully,
Hydar Ally
