Godfrey Lowden demolished Steve David-Longe in his opening match of Guyana Tennis Association (GTA)/ Assuria Invitational Classic at Le Ressouvenir Tennis Club on Saturday.
In the men’s 35 and over round robin event Lowden wasted little time in winning the match in straight sets against Steve David-Longe. He won the first set by a 6-2 margin but the second set was a bit more competitive as David-Longe put up more resistance. The set eventually ended with Lowden winning it 7-5.
In other results in the women’s singles Nicola Ramdyhan defeated Jamaali Homer comfortably 6-4 6-1.The final game was a competitive Men’s singles clash between Leyland Leacock and Gavin Lewis, which went to the third and final set. Lewis recovered to win the match after losing the first set 7-6. The second set he won comfortably 6-4, while both players rallied to gain victory in the final set which ended 7-5 in Lewis’ favour
