An Albouystown man will spend two weeks in jail after he admitted to slapping his partner twice while he was under the influence of alcohol.
“I was kind of upset with her,” Mahendra Brijnauth told Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 1, where he admitted to slapping Christine Garraway twice to the face, on March 2, at their James Street, Albouystown home.
It was the police’s case that Garraway was in the upper flat of the house, while Brijnauth was downstairs drinking alcohol. According to Prosecutor Michael Grant, Brijnauth went upstairs and accused Garraway of being disrespectful, before he hit her. The matter was later reported to the police and Brijnauth was arrested and charged.
“It would never happen again” Brijnauth told the Chief Magistrate, adding, “Is just two slaps she get.”
