The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has announced a programme of activities in March to observe the death anniversaries of late former Presidents, Dr Cheddi Jagan and Janet Jagan.
A release from the party said that among the activities planned for all ten administrative regions, is the annual memorial observance at the Babu John crematorium, Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice, on Sunday, March 9 at 14.30pm where the PPP leadership will make presentations interspersed with cultural items. On Sunday, March 9, the annual Cheddi Jagan cycle race will commence at Freedom House in New Amsterdam at 8.00am and end at Port Mourant, Corentyne.
On March 16, the Cheddi Jagan fitness walk will circle the National Park while on March 23 the family fun day will be held at State House lawns. The following day, the annual lecture will take place at the Cheddi Jagan Research Centre in Kingston, Georgetown at 5.00pm.
Other activities include the commissioning of the PPP office in Aishalton, Region 9, several lectures, cultural programmes, video shows, book exhibitions, days of sport and tree planting and park clean-up sessions.
