A Wakenaam man was on Monday placed on $10,000 bail by Magistrate Sunil Scarce over an abusive language charge.
The Charity Magistrate’s Court heard that on February 5 at Maria’s Pleasure, Wakenaam, Bisnauth Ramdial, a 43-year-old carpenter, used abusive language to the annoyance of Manwattie Gordon.
Ramdial, who failed to make a court appearance on February 26 at the Wakenaam Magistrate Court, was arrested by police and taken to the Charity Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
When asked by the magistrate why he was absent on the last court date, Ramdial said that he works as a carpenter in another area and was not aware that he had to attend court. He was not represented and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
There was no objection to bail by Prosecutor Khrisnadatt Ramana and Magistrate Scarce granted bail in the sum of $10,000 pending trial.
Ramdial was ordered to return to the Wakenaam Magistrates Court on March 26.
