Dear Editor,
On Tuesday March 3, the hire car in which I was travelling entered a deep pothole in the vicinity of La Grange, West Bank Demerara. The tyre was damaged beyond repair. The driver explained to me that he would have to replace the tyre at a cost of $10 000. His experience is common to other drivers.
It is so disgraceful and shameful that the West Demerara road has deteriorated to the extent that vehicles are damaged and lives endangered, especially those of drivers who do not know the dangerous zones.
I’m talking here of a main roadway serving thousands. I wish something could be done urgently.
Personally, I do not feel safe when I’m on this road, and I have to travel on it almost every day.
Yours faithfully,
Krishna Nand Prasad
