Destructive bowling by Jaush Paul and aggressive batting by Edmond Pearson guaranteed Enterprise a quarterfinals spot in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/ Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket, played yesterday at Enterprise ground East Coast Demerara.
Playing in the Central zone, East Coast Demerara, Enterprise defeated St. Andrews Primary School by five runs in a closely contested game. Batting first, Enterprise made 145-7 in 10 overs, thanks to principal scorers Edmond Pearson and Vickram Narine who made 19 and 10 respectively.
Bowling for St. Andrews, S. Hamilton (3-7) and J. Parry (2-5) were the chief wicket takers. In reply St. Andrews tried really hard to for the win but fell short by four runs ending on 141-6 in their 10 overs. Jaush Paul and Vickram Narine took 3-8 and 2-6 respectively for Enterprise.
Enterprise also defeated Hope Estate Primary School by 146 runs in the final game of the day. Afforded 34 runs in extras by some wayward bowling from the Hope Estate’s bowlers, Enterprise managed to score the highest total of the tournament, ending at 221-3 when their overs ended. Edmond Pearson continued where he left off in the earlier game to hit the top score of 20, receiving support from Joel Williams who made 16. Gopaul Doodnauth was the only bowler of significance for Hope Estate Primary ending with figures of 2-10.
In their turn at the crease, although assisted by 26 extras Hope Estate were bowled out for 75 at the end of their 10 overs. Jaush Paul took four wickets to finish the day with a tally of seven while Radah Ramjeet and Vickram Narine supported well with two wickets each.
