Milo/Petra organisers host gender-based violence workshop

Representatives from 24 schools competing in the Milo/Petra Organization Schools Football tournament attended a two-day awareness workshop on Gender-based Violence in the boardroom of the Health Ministry.

The workshop was facilitated by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in association with the ministry and covered topics such as adolescent development, what is gender-based violence, the causes and consequences of gender-based violence and mentorship.

In her closing remarks, Adolescent Health Rep Dr Ertenisia Hamilton thanked the participants for attending the workshop and expressed hope that the content of the workshop would help them to positively impact lives.  Marlon Cole, Petra Co-Director, in an invited comment said he was pleased with the attendance at the seminar and was hopeful that the information provided at the sessions would help to curb this scourge.
