The Berbice Cricket Board’s Telenec Incorporated U15 one-day cricket competition which began last Saturday in West Berbice, saw wins for Blairmont and Bush Lot United Sports Club New Beginning cricket team in games played at the Bush Lot and Bath grounds.
On Saturday at the Bush Lot ground, Bush Lot’s New Beginning was bowled out for 79, with Yugendra Budhu scoring a fighting 34 from 63 balls. He was supported by the Berbice U15 player Kris Ramnarine who made 19 and Kris Kabool (10).
Bowling for Blairmont, Seon Glasgow took 4-31 from eight overs and S. Veerasammy 3-2 from two overs.
When Blairmont batted, Veerasammy clobbered 65 runs with three fours while Javed Karim made 25 to take their team to 165-7. Bowling for Bush Lot, Yuvendra Budhu took 3-26 and Kris Ramnarine 2-31.
In their second turn at the crease Bush Lot was bowled out for 112, with Ramnarine top scoring with 82.
Glasgow captured 6-24 for Blairmont, who in reply made the required 26 runs to win inside three overs.
On Sunday, Bush Lot New Beginning rebounded to defeat Achievers U15 at Bath ground. Batting first Bush Lot was led by 78 from Berbice U15 player, Kris Ramnarine in his team’s score of 174.
Bowling for Achievers, C. Harry took 3-47 from 14 overs and D. Sooklall 3-14 from 6.1 overs.
Achievers innings folded for 84 runs as Ramnarine bagged 4-14 from nine overs. C. Harry and A. Ramnarine scored 22 and 10 runs respectively.
Batting a second time with a lead of 98 runs Bush Lot rattled up a quick fire 62 for 4 declared, with B. Mohan picking up 3-15 from four overs for Achievers Sports Club.
Ramnarine continued to enjoy the match taking figures of 4-20 from seven overs. He was supported by 12-year-old Navendra Prasad who took 2-15 from six overs and D. Gossai 2-1 from a solitary over.
