Cummings Lodge Secondary edged Christ Church Secondary 4-3 when the Milo/Petra Organization Schools Football tourney continued yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Elijah Grant opened the scoring for Cummings Lodge in the 18th with a curling 28 yard effort from the right flank that flew over the keeper and settled into the top left hand corner.
It soon became 2-0 in the 26th minute as a 25 yard strike from centre of the field by Sylvester Robertson inexplicably got past the opposing custodian and settled into the left hand side of the net.
Kadeem Blackman would pull one back for Camp and Middle Street side in the 34th minute with a clinical finish to the lower left hand corner after latching onto a defence piercing through pass from the midfield third.
Christ Church would level the score line through Javontay Best in the 46th minute of the second period as he slotted home to the bottom of the goal from inside the penalty area.
The East Coast side would retake the lead in the 57th minute as Jerome Jarvis etched his name on the scorer’s sheet with a right footed chipped shot from the left side of the penalty area following a poor goalkeeping clearance.
The sea-saw battle would continue as Christ Church refused to go down fight, with Best completing his double two minutes later through a right footed effort into the right hand corner of the goal.
However the result would be settled three minutes later as Jarvis sealed his double with a attempt to the left hand side of the woodwork after collecting a well placed through pass from Grant following a skilful midfield solo run.
The final fixture of the day saw North Ruimveldt Secondary overcoming Tucville Secondary 3-0 through goals from Shamar McPherson, Carl Griffith and Jeremy Garrett in the 30th, 45th and 63rd minutes respectively.
In other results, Freeburg Secondary defeated North Georgetown Secondary 2-1 while Charlestown Secondary swamped New Campbellville Secondary by a 6-1 margin.
