Fabian Williams, one of the persons who was critically injured following the collision along the Linden-Soesdyke Highway last Thursday afternoon, succumbed to his injuries yesterday.
Williams, who had been an admitted patient in the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), was one of three persons who were listed as critical after the accident, which claimed the life of 22-year-old Clifflon Orande Marks.
The accident occurred when a Tapir vehicle, ferrying eight persons from the Full Gospel Assembly Bible School to a church crusade at Bell Vue, West Bank Demerara, collided with a truck heading in the opposite direction.
Williams reportedly died sometime yesterday morning in the ICU.
Akleema Simpson is still a critical patient in the public hospital’s ICU, while driver of the ill-fated tapir Kishan Singh is recovering in the Male Surgical Ward of the hospital. His father said Singh is recovering but he has been experiencing dizzy spells, for which he is being kept in the hospital.
Marks’ sister, Shelon, told Stabroek News that a post-mortem examination conducted on her brother’s remains yesterday found that he died of a fractured spine and blunt trauma to the head.
Williams is to be buried in Mahdia on Thursday, while Marks is to be buried on Saturday.
