Brian Hackett emerged victorious when the Maurice Solomon Accounting Firm Stableford tournament concluded Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Club, East Coast of Demerara.
Hackett recorded a score of 36 points after the conclusion of the 18 holes to edge out veteran Colin Ming who garnered 35 points. Rounding out the top three was former West Indian Test player Joe Solomon with 35 points.
Even though Ming and Solomon had the same score at the conclusion of the 18 holes,
Ming was adjudged to have had a better back nine after using a count back system. In the fourth position with a score of 33 points was David Mohammed.
Awarded the best female accolade was Christine Sookram whilst Mark Lashley won the nearest to the pin.
Representing the Accounting Firm, Terrence Jaskarran said that his firm was pleased with the huge turnout of 44 players and has promised to repeat the same sponsorship in 2015. He noted that their Principal Maurice Solomon was an avid golf player. Club President Jerome Khan expressed his gratitude for the firm’s sponsorship, noting that it is very challenging to maintain over 90 acres of land with a small membership and that every cent that comes into the club is utilized for maintenance and infrastructure work.
