Dear Editor,
My ten-year-old daughter was reading out aloud from the March 12 edition of your newspaper. The article was about the trial of the South African Olympian. All of a sudden she went quiet. “Dad something is wrong with this newspaper,” she said. How could something be wrong with the newspaper I asked myself? Then she presented it to me. Yes, something was definitely wrong. There in front of me, in the Stabroek News was the ‘F’ word. Yes, the ‘F’ word. I was hoping to see an apology in your issue the following day, but nothing came. My guess is that Stabroek News has become a part of the very thing it condemns. I am now looking forward to seeing the ‘N’ word, the ‘C’ word, the ‘R’ word, the ‘B’ word and other words your editor deems appropriate for readers’ digestion.
Yours faithfully,
R Trim
