An all-round performance by Berbice under-15 player Kris Ramnarine guided Bush Lot New Beginning past D’Edward in the Berbice Cricket Board/Tenelec Incorporated U-15 cricket competition played on Sunday at the Bush Lot Sports Ground, West Coast Berbice.
Bush Lot New Beginning which took first strike after winning the toss was in early trouble losing opener Yuvendra Budhu at 14 for 1. Ramnarine, batting at three, laboured for his top score of 20 as wickets fell frequently around him with the Bush Lot side finally succumbing for 76 from 18 overs.
Bowling for D’Edward, Dishan Phillips took 5-17 from 4 overs and Hemraj Harilall 3-20 from 4 overs.
In reply D’Edward were bundled out for 56 in 22 overs, with Ramnarine taking 7-24 from 10 overs and Nivendra Prasad 2-16 from 7 overs.
Batting a second time, Bush Lot scored over six runs per over before declaring at 117-5 from 19 overs. Ramnarine was again the principal scorer with 63.
Bowling for D’Edward, Harilall led the way with 3-33 from 8 overs. Needing a fourth innings total of 137 in just over an hour to record a come-from behind-victory, the D’Edward batsmen folded for 51 from 22 overs, with Bush Lot bowlers Nivendra Prasad: 3-8 from 8 overs and Nicholas Shivrattan with 3-15 from 4 overs causing the damage as D’Edward fell short by 86 runs.
