(Reuters) – China’s Li Na won her rematch with Slovakia’s Dominika Cibulkova in the quarter-finals of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells yesterday.
In her first meeting with Cibulkova since the Australian Open final in January, Li once again proved too strong for her younger opponent, winning 6-3 4-6 6-3 in a little over two and a half hours.
Li next meets Flavia Pennetta in today’s semi-finals after the Italian beat American Sloane Stephens 6-4 5-7 6-4 in a seesawing match.
Ukrainian giantkiller Alexandr Dolgopolov continued his fairytale run in the Californian desert, blunting the booming serve of Canadian Milos Raonic to book his place in the last four of the men’s event.
Dolgopolov won 6-3 6-4 in less than 80 minutes and next faces four-times champion Roger Federer or in-form South African Kevin Anderson.
