Digicel on Thursday donated a quantity of Phagwah powder and an undisclosed sum of money to the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha as part of its annual contribution for the upcoming Phagwah events, the company said in a press release.
According to a press release from Digicel, this is in support of the fifth annual festival of colours (Kala Utsav) hosted by the Sabha, which is to be celebrated on March 17 at the Everest Cricket Club on Carifesta Avenue starting from 3 pm.
In making the contribution, Gavin Hope, Events and Sponsorship Manager reiterated the need for Guyanese to preserve our culture “as we are a very diverse people with a diverse culture and supporting events like this helps us to do just that,” according to the press release.
The company added that it is well known that Phagwah is a festival that brings Guyanese from all walks of life together in celebration.
