PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC — Teenaged Vincentian pacer Ray Jordan combined with his West Indies Under-19 teammate Nicholas Pooran here Wednesday, to fire Clarke Road into the final of the Premier Division Sunday League 50-over tournament.
Jordan, who bowled impressively at the recent Youth World Cup in Dubai, snatched three for 22 to help set up a comprehensive 100-run victory over Tableland at Syne Village in Penal, in the south of the island.
Clarke Road had earlier opted to bat first and were dismissed for 203 in 43 overs, with Pooran top scoring with 67. He struck eight fours and two sixes, and added 43 for the fifth wicket with Yannic Ottley (15) to rescue his side after they slipped from 78 for two to a position of 93 for four.
He was eventually eighth out as Clarke Road lost their last four wickets for 17 runs. Pooran also starred at the recent Youth World Cup, smashing 143 against Australia.
In reply, Tableland were in early trouble after Jordan knocked over both openers cheaply with just 25 runs on the board. He also claimed first class batsman William Perkins before left-hander Evin Lewis, also a first class player, resisted with 52.
However, Tableland never recovered from Jordan’s burst and left-arm spinner Kissoondath Magram performed the final rites, picking up three for six off just 11 deliveries near the end.
